Looking to get in last minute? Add yourself to the waitlist. If something comes up, I will text you.

I am planning to be away again in the summer from May-September, and I am planning to resume my full time schedule in early October.

Please don’t come in sick, I will be happy to reschedule your appointment when you are feeling better. All touch surfaces are cleaned in between each patient, and I monitor myself for any cold or flu like symptoms daily. Please use the hand sanitizer when entering the building. Masks are still optional, but if you feel more comfortable if we both wear one, I will be more than happy to put one on.

I am a Registered Massage Therapist with the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia and the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC). I have a 2200hr Remedial Massage Diploma; which I received with honours from MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy in Calgary, AB in 2017.

I have extensive training in traditional Swedish Massage. This includes: deep tissue, sport massage, trigger point therapy, TMJ (jaw) and whiplash treatments, active inhibition techniques, myofascial release, hydrotherapy, and remedial strengthening and stretching techniques. My continuing education has been learning a focused treatment approach to myofascial restrictions.

The continuing education I have used to broaden my practice includes:

John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach: Level 1 and Level 2 - This approach is a slow application of sustained pressure into fascial restrictions, tightness or pain.

Anatomy Trains in Structure and Function. This also involves treating the fascial system, in a different way through observing posture and gait patterns and treating the respective fascial chains involved with dysfunctions observed.

Eric Purves: The science of pain, and chronic pain management. This course has given me a new perspective on different reasons why we have pain, and how I as an RMT can address it with massage.

Muva Dynamic Movement Education: Therapeutic Yoga as Exercise Prescription: For Shoulder Health.

I will always be learning, and moving forward with my practice. I am eager to continue challenging myself so that I may provide an effective, lasting treatment to my patients.

Experience

Nancy graduated with a 2,200-hour Remedial Massage diploma with honours from MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy in Calgary, AB. She is a member in good standing with the College of Complementary Health Practitioners of BC and the National Health Practitioners of Canada.

Nancy was fortunate to start her career in Canmore, AB, where she completed a mentorship with the head massage therapist with Cross Country Canada and the Biathlon team. She held a full-time position at her mentor’s clinic from 2016 to 2020, where she developed a strong interest in myofascial release. During this time, she had the opportunity to work with both the junior and senior teams as they prepared for the World Championships and the South Korea Winter Games.

Since then, Nancy has been operating her own private practice in Golden, BC where she enjoys working with a diverse range of patients and loves the variety this brings into her practice.

Practice Focus

Nancy works collaboratively with other health professionals to create effective treatment plans tailored to each individual. She has pursued extensive continuing education in myofascial release, which forms the foundation of her treatment style, complemented by Swedish massage techniques.

With a focus on current research in pain science and chronic pain management, Nancy takes a holistic approach to patient care. She has experience treating post-surgical recovery, injury rehabilitation, whiplash, concussion, TMJ pain and dysfunction, peripheral nerve pain, scar tissue work, preventive maintenance and postural dysfunctions.

Personal

Nancy’s background is deeply rooted in sports and the outdoors. She grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan, where she played competitive sports and trained in ballet. Moving out to the mountains allowed her to transition into outdoor sports and find new passions.

Nancy enjoys downhill skiing and ski touring in the winter, and in the summers enjoys camping and long backpacking trips. She spent her twenties working seasonal jobs as a whitewater rafting guide and ski patroller. These physically demanding roles took a toll on her body and led her to explore a variety of treatment modalities to manage ongoing aches and pain.

This experience ultimately inspired her to pursue a career in massage therapy, where she now helps others manage and recover from their own physical challenges.
